Introducing our new India Country Head, Venky Machavarapu

Building a long-term, durable company requires us to think big, be fearless, and embrace boldness. Over the last 18 months, we’ve expanded our G&A, operations, and technology capabilities in India across Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, with a focus on building and delivering the best experience for our customers in their home-selling and -buying journeys. Expanding our global footprint enables us to rapidly iterate and more efficiently scale our business now and into the future. 

And that’s why I’m thrilled to share that Venkata (Venky) Machavarapu has joined the Opendoor team as its India Country Head. First and foremost, Venky shares our passion for our mission and culture — our team of builders and innovators, hungry to solve complex problems and remove pain points for millions of consumers. Venky will be responsible for expanding our technology, product development, and operations centers in India. His vision is to create a synergy between high-performing, culturally-aligned teams to ensure that we continue delivering significant value to homeowners. 

Venky brings more than two decades of experience building engineering and operation centers in India, most recently with Salesforce and Indeed.com. He understands the nuts and bolts of execution, and at the same time is able to focus on our mission. Under his leadership, he will build our brand in India, attract best-in-class talent, and build the core foundational capabilities that Opendoor needs to remain successful and grow. 

India has the largest pool of technical talent outside of the U.S., and we’re looking forward to expanding with a more diverse team across the world, with Venky at the forefront. Our centers in India will help us build out our end-to-end platforms, from operator tooling and finance to data analytics and machine learning capabilities. This will augment our teams based in the U.S. and Canada to provide much-needed bandwidth and work together collectively.
